The Museum of What Just Happened

August 12, 2020

Note: This post is part of my “Museums Project“, a collection of 200+ high-concept ideas for museums.

There are cameras that are watching you as you arrive at the museum, as you buy tickets, and as you walk around.

The first exhibit is a touch screen. You touch it. You are suprised to see a video of yourself walking into the museum. At the second exihibit you see a digital “painting” of yourself buying a ticket. At the third exhibit you see a video of yourself being surprised at the first exhibit.

We could use some AI to identify and catalog people. Maybe it’s set up as an anthropological museum where there’s lots of guessing as to what this person’s hat meant, or guessing the relations between members of a group.

Perhaps we invite them to interact in strange ways to see the exhibits, which later becomes mis-interpretted by the anthropological notes.

Maybe we even have recordings of visitors from the other museums we make. That’s a bit creepy, though. Maybe not.
