5 Fun & Unique Austin Team Building Activities for Small Teams

1) The Eureka Room

The Mysterious and Super Fun Eureka Room!

If you’re looking for a VERY unique team building activity that will get all your team interacting with one another in a fun way that doesn’t seem coerced or lame, check out The Eureka Room! This mysterious room in a small house downtown is fun, energetic, and downright ridiculous. Their curious activities and games WILL get your team working together and having fun in no time. Plus, it’s home-grown – so you can feel good supporting a local Austin business. Groups of 4-20 work best. While the experience is a mystery, they are happy to share all the details if you have any concerns!

2) Escape the Box

What if an escape room didn’t have a room at all? What if the game was played out on the streets of Austin? That is the unique idea behind Wishing Horse’s “Escape the Box” game. Also, there’s time travel, a live host in character that kicks off the game and you’ll learn some about Austin as you play the game and solve puzzles.

3) Austin Haunted Tours

Perhaps your team has a taste for the macabre? Austin’s home-grown, long-running “Haunted ATX” tours visit historic local locations and tell you all about the paranormal activities that have (allegedly) happened there. You can take the tour in a van or even a hearse! They promise it to be “engaging, creepy, and scary!”

4) Inner Space Cavern

It’s Texas. It’s hot. Get cool in the cavern. Take a tour of the long-running roadside attraction Inner Space Cavern in Georgetown. The offer a variety of tours and private group options ranging from an easy walk to a much harder deep cave exploration. See what lies beneath I-35!

5) Corporate Improv Comedy Classes

No, you don’t have to be funny to be in the class. In fact, much of the team building consists of fun games that get people interacting in ways that loosen then up and grow camaraderie within your team. There’s some really fun and supportive improv teachers in town where you can set up a private improv class with your group, at their place or (if you have one) your office! Some even offer zoom team building. Check out The Hideout and ColdTowne Theater for more info.
