I took some days off this week to go visit my parents, so there’s not as much to report.
When I ask my optimal questions, they include “What’s the best thing I can do for my company?” The answer is generally some version of “get somebody to help you” or “sales”.
I’ve been looking at the end to end experience and the intro portion of the experience needs more pizazz. A little bit of TouchDesigner work would go a long way. That same work would also help me be able to hand the showing responsibilities off to someone when my schedule was packed. I know I could do the work in TouchDesigner, but I also know that it is not the best use of my time. I don’t need more TouchDesigner skills. I need to get the Eureka Room to make a bigger difference and to do that I need to get more customers and to keep improving my show and my craft.
So I have posted a gig out there to get that help. I’m hoping to find someone or a small team that I can form a longer-term relationship with as I come up with more ideas that I think customers will like. Developers are not cheap, but I think it’s worth the investment. It could literally take me a week of work and take a good developer just a few hours.
I also am thinking I need someone to manage some of the media outreach and other small tasks I have lying around. Managing bookings is one of those “interrupter” tasks that I hate. Loathe. Despise. I like to focus and dig in and hate being interrupted by small things. But time kills the deal and I have to jump on inquiries so I can make the sales. So I’m talking to a few PR people and also to another person who might be able to help with these random tasks that keep me from producing the work I need to produce.
