Today’s post puts the site at over 250,000 published words. I started the blog a little over two years ago and have posted at least twice a week ever since. I have a list of over 1000 blog topic ideas on a separate spreadsheet and am only at about post #300, so I could go for quite a while before I run out of things to write about.
For the first year I had basically no visitors, but I kept plugging away at it. Looks like I’ll get about 2000 visitors this month. Most of them are for the lists of top things to do in Austin (you can see them in the main navigation of the site) and this month I’m getting a lot of traffic for my Austin Halloween Guide page.
Traffic still isn’t great, but it does help get some attention to the Eureka Room and other Austin things I think people should check out. It’s also helped me collect my thoughts around IRLXD. Perhaps some day I will organize them better and make a small book on the topic.
Some Highlights
I thought it would be a good opportunity to call out some sections of the blog that may have been overlooked. Here’s a few sections that I think have the most interesting content.
The blog has just a small sample of museum ideas I have, but you can find some of the more fleshed out ones here. I call them “museums” but they really don’t focus on the content of the museum as much as the experience of the museum. I really don’t know of museum is the best word for it, but that’s what I’m using for now.
Just a single page, but it could be so much more. So far, zero customers. Puzzling.
The 2020 Experimental Event Series
I took a lot of time to document these events and took extra care to make the write-ups interesting. Probably some of the better entertaining reading on the site.
