I am swamped today with issues, but here’s a few updates:
January is a slow tourism month but somehow we might even beat December for our sales. This is amazing and bodes well.
The landlord has agreed to renew the lease for another 6 months. That puts us through September. and gives me time to look for a bigger location.
We’ve been too busy for my team to handle some days and not busy enough for them on others. This continues to be a challenge. I’m hiring a couple more people to fill in which I think will allow my existing team to have a more predictable and flexible schedule. They have other jobs they can pick up hours and I don’t want them to block out time and not have work for me. As much as I appreciate that flexibility, there’s opportunity cost there for them an I don’t think it’s fair to them.
I started working on some changes to programs. This is very time-consuming and it is hard that I only get maybe one day a week to do it. I really would love a solid week to get in the zone and knock stuff out. A larger space where I don’t have to switch the room between development and production modes would be a big help.
I want to make the gift shop more amazing and build a shrine in the closet. I think this will add to the visitor experience.
SXSW is coming up soon and we might try to do an event for that.
In a very related note that I can’t talk about, the calendar company will finally finally finally be coming off my plate. That will free up an enormous amount of mental and emotional space for me.
