Eureka Room Update

April 12, 2022

Note: This was written on 3/15. Many things have changed since.

The plan is to move the Eureka Room mostly as-is to the new space. Even with just some minor modifications, it is taking a lot of brainwork to figure things out. A new ultra-short-throw projector, some thicker and more secure plexiglass walls, and putting the waiting room and tunnel into a room with a much higher ceiling has required a lot of thought.

Here’s just some of the drawings I’ve made on the the Eureka Room itself.

Another challenge is planning for an uncertain future but not overplanning for it.

The room I’m moving it into has room for 2-3 of the current sized Eureka Rooms, but there’s no walls to separate sound and I’d also like to make the Room four feet longer by adding another plexi panel. Neither of those scenarios is now, but they effect what I do now.

The current thinking is that when I get to two Rooms I will just play the same program in each, to avoid sound bleed. When I get to where it looks like I’ll need a third Room, I can start looking at renting more space here or somewhere else.
